Pain Management

Pain management includes migraine, chronic pain, post operative pain and more....

Hypnotherapy would not be used to treat pain unless the cause of the pain is already known and has been diagnosed by your GP, pain can sometimes be a indication of a more serious underlying medical condition.  Once diagnosed hypnotherapy can be very effective in relieving pain.

Pain is a fundamental element in our survival.  Acute pain is our body's way of telling us that we need to do something about it.  Headaches, back pain, arthritis and the terrible pain associated with cancer are just some of the chronic pains that can make our lives really difficult and sometimes even the most powerful drugs fail to control.  The source of the pain maybe located in your body but the pain signals have to reach your brain before you can be made aware of it.  Pain is both physical and psychological, i.e. phantom limb pain - when a person has had a limb amputated but still feels the pain and clearly shows how the brain is capable of not just interpreting the message of pain from the body but it can initiate these autonomous of any physical cause and this can be as intense as the pain that you get from an injury.

If you have experienced chronic pain over a sustained period then you may feel that you are doomed to suffering for the rest of your life.  Hypnotherapy offers help in that it can teach you to alter the brain's perception of the pain message and to turn down the intensity in order to reduce the suffering you have been experiencing.
